Privacy Statement
This privacy policy only applies to the primary website, scic.ca, and the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation account sub-sites, connect.scic.ca. We will refer to these sites collectively as "scic.ca" throughout this privacy notice. It does not apply to:
- other Government of Saskatchewan websites that we link to (e.g. saskatchewan.ca, lpi.ca or sites with gov.sk.ca in the URL).
Separate privacy notices may be included on other websites or participating government services. If you link to another website from this one, ensure you read and understand the applicable privacy policy on that website.
How we protect your information
Protecting your information that we collect from you is a top priority at Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC). SCIC may monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload, delete or change information, or otherwise cause damage. We record the Internet Protocol (IP) address of computers that have contacted our websites, the date and time of the visit and the pages visited. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected or we are obligated to do so by law. We protect your information in the following ways:
Encryption
When you visit our website, we require the use of encryption. Using encryption protects the information by scrambling it as it is sent from your computer or device to SCIC and vice versa. It helps to keep your information secure and private.
Cookies
During your use of scic.ca, we may distribute a small file to your browser, called a "cookie." Cookies are used to:
- measure how you use the website so it can be updated and improved based on user needs; and
- remember certain notifications you have already seen so that we don't show them to you again.

scic.ca cookies are not used to identify you personally.

We regularly review activity logs to identify potential problems. We have systems in place to automatically block and help prevent unauthorized access to your information from unknown or untrusted sources.
Patches
We update our systems frequently so that we are using current security technology.
Limited access
We restrict access to your personal information to SCIC representatives who need to know that information in order to process your request or maintain our website.
Other security measures
SCIC engages in a number of other security activities to help ensure the safety and privacy of your personal information. This includes adopting measures to help secure our computers against hacker attacks and virus activities by a number of different means.
Email fraud
Be cautious of email and websites purporting to represent a legitimate company and that ask you to provide confidential or financial information. It is not SCIC’s practice to e-mail you to ask you to provide or confirm your password or other confidential or financial information, other than as may occur in response to an inquiry from you. If you receive such a request, or have any concern as to the validity of an email from SCIC, a website purporting to be a SCIC website, or our online security, please notify us immediately.

Your personal information will be retained for the period of time as set out by The Archives and Public Records Management Act.
